Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer
KEY OBJECTIVES
- As Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Prime areas of responsibility will be the checks, reviews and approvals of the LDV-A EPCIC rotating equipment detail design, engineering and specifications used on the LDV-A Offshore Platform.
- The candidate shall be able to organize, supervise, co-ordinate and control a mechanical design team as deemed appropriate by the Engineering Manager in order to ascertain that the facilities are adequately designed (by EPCIC Contractor and FSO Contractor and his Sub-Contractors) and built as per drawings, specifications, procedures, cost and schedule, utilizing good and safe Industry practices.
- The candidate will also provide his expert advice during design reviews, vendor data reviews, procurement data with an eye on constructability, delivery, schedule, installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning.
KEY OBJECTIVES – ENGINEERING
- Responsible for the overall design and selection of Rotating Equipment to be used on the LDV-A Platform and LDV FSO.
- Responsible for the Monitoring, Execution and implementation of the rotating equipment design by the LDV-A Platform EPCIC Contractor, with respect to ensuring that cost and schedule are maintained within the boundaries of those Contracts.
- Responsible for the Implementation of the COMPANY HSE and Quality requirements throughout the execution period.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Prepares a weekly progress report for issue to the Engineering Manager.
- Establish a daily routine with the Engineering Manager on all rotating equipment Design issues including suite queries on the turbomachinery design.
- Establish a daily routine with the Commissioning Manager on all rotating equipment Commissioning issues.
- Establish a weekly progress review meeting on the rotating equipment discipline with CONTRACTOR to monitor progress and change.
- Establish, monitor and expedite an rotating equipment Site query system on all Vendor and Design Issues.
- Indirect supervision of the rotating equipment design team and the Specialist Vendors.
- Monitor and ensure that the Project Quality plan is being adhered to in the rotating equipment discipline.
KEY AUTHORITIES
- As the Senior rotating equipment Engineer, HCMC Office based, free to act within the authorities granted by the Engineering Manager.
- Budgetary authorities will be within those limits specified by the Engineering Manager.
- Ensuring that all rotating equipment engineering activities comply with all COMPANY, and Vietnamese regulatory requirements.

- The Health, Safety and welfare of all persons engaged on, or related to, any site project work being undertaken by the COMPANY, Including COMPANY personnel, staff, contractors’ visitors, and third parties.
WORKING RELATIONSHIP
- Engineering Manager, Platforms Delivery/Construction Manager, Interface Manager, QAQC Manager and Commissioning Manager Engineering Consultants, Contractors and Vendors.
- LDV Project Team personnel.
- On board short-term contract and technical staff and all visitors.
- Good relations must be maintained with personnel on all work sites and HCMC office.
- Must be a Team player and capable of communicating technical issues across all other disciplines.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Mandatory
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University or chartered mechanical engineer.
- Have (min 20 years) working Experience in Oil & Gas related Turbomachinery and Rotating Equipment Engineering and Design.
- Extensive experience in gas turbines.
- Extensive experience in centrifugal gas compressors.
- Extensive experience in reciprocating gas compressors.
- Have worked in S.E.A. for at least 5 years. (Preference given to locally based professional)
- Self motivated.
- Strong computer literacy.
- Strong organization skills.
- Strong team building skills.
- Fluent in English both written and spoken.
- Must have extensive experience factory testing of turbine driven generators and turbine driven compressors, including PTC tests and string tests.
- Must have extensive experience with centrifugal pumps and reciprocating pumps.
- Must have experience in the installation and alignment of turbomachinery and rotating equipment.
- Must have experience in carrying out/reviewing pulsation studies on reciprocating gas compressors.
- Must be familiar with mounting requirements for turbomachinery and rotating equipment and grouting requirements.
- Must be familiar with dry gas seal designs and the associated requirements for seal gas treatment and buffer gas including during start up and shutdowns.
- Must have experience in reviewing surge control analysis.
- Must have experience in rotating equipment vibration analysis.
- Must have experience in preparing CTPs for turbomachinery and rotating equipment.
- Familiar with centrifugal and reciprocating gas compressor programs.
- Familiar with pump NPSH requirements.
- Familiar with power margins required for turbomachinery trains.
- Familiar with API standards for turbines, centrifugal gas compressors and reciprocating gas compressors and various pump types.
