Lead Piping Design Engineer
KEY OBJECTIVES
- As Lead Piping Design Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Prime areas of responsibility will be the checks, reviews and approvals of the LDV-A EPCIC piping detail design, piping layouts, 3D Modelling, Isometrics engineering and specifications used on the LDV-A Offshore Platform.
- The candidate shall be able to organize, supervise, co-ordinate and control a design team as deemed appropriate by the Engineering Manager in order to ascertain that the facilities are adequately designed (by EPCIC Contractor and FSO Contractor and his Sub-Contractors) and built as per drawings, specifications, procedures, cost and schedule, utilizing good and safe Industry practices.
- The candidate will also provide his expert advice during design reviews, vendor data reviews, procurement data with an eye on constructability, delivery, schedule, installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning.
JECTIVES – ENGINEERING
- Responsible for the overall design and selection of piping to be used on the LDV-A Platform and LDV FSO.
- Responsible for the Monitoring, Execution and implementation of the piping design by the LDV-A Platform EPCIC Contractor, with respect to ensuring that cost and schedule are maintained within the boundaries of those Contracts.
- Responsible for the Implementation of the COMPANY HSE and Quality requirements throughout the execution period.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Prepares a weekly progress report for issue to the Engineering Manager.
- Establish a daily routine with the Engineering Manager on all piping Design issues including suite queries on the piping design.
- Establish a daily routine with the Commissioning Manager on all piping Commissioning issues.
- Establish a weekly progress review meeting on the piping discipline with CONTRACTOR to monitor progress and change.
- Establish, monitor and expedite ana piping Site query system on all Vendor and Design Issues.
- Indirect supervision of the piping design team and the Specialist Vendors.
- Monitor and ensure that the Project Quality plan is being adhered to in the piping discipline.
KEY AUTHORITIES
- As the Piping Design Engineer, HCMC Office based, free to act within the authorities granted by the Engineering Manager.
- Budgetary authorities will be within those limits specified by the Engineering Manager.
- Ensuring that all piping engineering activities comply with all COMPANY, and Vietnamese regulatory requirements.

- The primary responsibilities are:
- The Health, Safety and welfare of all persons engaged on, or related to, any site project work being undertaken by the COMPANY, Including COMPANY personnel, staff, contractors’ visitors, and third parties.
WORKING RELATIONSHIP
- Engineering Manager, Construction Managers, Engineering Consultants, Contractors and Vendors.
- LDV Project Team personnel.
- On board short-term contract and technical staff and all visitors.
- Good relations must be maintained with personnel on all work sites and HCMC office.
- Must be a Team player and capable of communicating technical issues across all other disciplines.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Mandatory
- Degree / Diploma in an Engineering related Discipline.
- Have (min 15 years) working experience in related Electrical and Instrumentation engineering and design particularly in the oil & gas facilities onshore and offshore.
- Have at least 10 years’ experience in the management of the design teams.
- Must have extensive gas turbine experience.
- Must have extensive centrifugal gas compressor experience.
- Must have reciprocating gas compressor experience.
- Self motivated.
- Strong computer literacy.
- Strong organization skills.
- Strong team building skills.
- Fluent in English both written and spoken.
- Fluent in the use of PDMS models at a review level.
- Able to design piping systems and determine the required pipe supports and their locations.
- Must have at least 5 years piping installation supervision experience.
- Familiar with requirements for flushing and hydrotest.
- Familiar with the requirements for N2/He Leak Testing.
- Familiar with managing offshore hook up piping interfaces.
- Familiar with normal mechanical and piping codes and standards such as API, ASME, ASTM etc.
