Senior Mechanical Engineer
KEY OBJECTIVES
- As Senior Mechanical Piping Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager your Prime areas of responsibility will be the detail design, engineering and specifications of Mechanical and Piping Equipment used on the offshore platforms.
- The candidate shall be able to Organize, supervise, co-ordinate and control a design Team to ascertain that the Offshore Platforms are built as per drawings, specifications, procedures, cost and schedule, utilizing good and safe Industry practices.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Prepares a weekly progress report for issue to the Engineering Manager.
- Establish a daily interface with the Engineering Manager on all Design and Site issues.
- Establish a weekly progress review meeting with LDV Platforms EPCIC Engineering contractor mechanical and piping teams to monitor progress and change and discuss technical aspects.
- Attend a weekly progress review meeting with LDV Platforms EPCIC Contractor and LDV Platforms EPCIC Engineering Contractor as required.
- Establish, monitor and expedite a Site query system on all Vendor and Design Issues.
- Monitor and ensure that the Project Quality plan is being adhered to
KEY AUTHORITIES
- As Senior Mechanical Piping Engineer, LDV Platforms EPCIC Engineering SubContractor Office based, free to act within the authorities granted by the Engineering Manager.
- Budgetary authorities will be within those limits specified by the Engineering Manager.
- Ensuring that all site activities comply with all COMPANY, and Government requirements and regulations.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The primary responsibilities are:
- The Health, Safety and welfare of all persons engaged on, or related to, any site project work being undertaken by the COMPANY, Including COMPANY personnel, staff, contractors’ visitors, and third parties.
WORKING RELATIONSHIP
- Engineering Manager, Construction Managers, Engineering Consultants, Contractors and Vendors.
- LDV Project Team personnel.
- On board short-term contract and technical staff and all visitors.
- Good relations must be maintained with personnel on all work sites and HCMC office.
- Must be a Team player and capable of communicating technical issues across all other disciplines.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Have (min 15 years) working Experience in offshore Oil & Gas Engineering and Design.
- Have at least 5 years’ experience in the management of design teams.
- Have worked in S.E.A. for at least 5 years. (Preference given to locally based professional).
- Self-motivated.
- Strong computer literacy.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong team building skills.
- Fluent in English both written and spoken.
- Evaluate and prepare specifications for:
- Capable of providing professional advice in the selection of equipment and materials.
- Familiar with normal mechanical and piping codes and standards such as API, ASME, ASTM etc.
- Must have experience in the witnessing and approving of FAT & SAT for Mechanical Packages and Equipment.
