Position Title Mechanical Technician
KEY OBJECTIVES
The Mechanical Technician is responsible for carrying out operation and maintenance of the FPSO’s associated equipment and vessel utilities with minimal environmental impact in accordance with legislation, class, flag and the Facility Management System.
To maintain/ keep watch in ER and on deck equipment as assigned during normal operation and off takes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Undertake general watch keeper’s duties and ensure all parameters of equipment are
monitored with full understand and report for any abnormal to line report.
- Maintain a machinery space log and keep a watch as directed.
- Maintain a high standard of good house-keeping in and around the engine room/on deck
equipment site.
- Responsible for ensuring the mechanical maintenance of equipment, plant, and systems is
carried out in a safe and effective manner and meet the maintenance schedule.
- Responsible for operating and recording log-sheet of all machinery and equipment as
assigned. Ensure full understand of reading put in log-sheet. Report to Maintenance
Supervisor if anything abnormal happens.

- Assist Maintenance Supervisor to identify priorities to plan maintenance and shutdown
activities in order to minimize downtime and maximize production.
- Carry out fault finding and diagnosis of problems affecting plant and systems taking
corrective actions to anticipate and prevent downtime and thus maximize oil and gas
production. Performs breakdown repairs whenever required. Shows initiative in identifying
opportunities to improve plant and machinery performance.
- Assist in preparing and submitting requirements for spares and proposals for modifications,
and in identifying appropriate stock levels and ensuring they are maintained at an optimum
operational level.
- Liaise with Storekeeper on ordering of stores and spare gear and monitor consumption for
Maintenance department materials.
- Undertake engine room, pump room, and deck equipment maintenance and repairs under the
direction of the SMT.
- Assist Maintenance Supervisor/SMT to study and give the root cause of BDR and way
forward for corrective action.
- Ensure all CBTA program for MT is completed as per requirement.
- Review and inform MS to update and develop job descriptions and add new job for
equipment in AMOS software, follow FMS and manual. Ensure the maintenance, inspection
report, overdue reason put in AMOS by MT is correct with full information as requirement.
- Assist Maintenance Supervisor/SMT to make maintenance plan for daily/weekly/monthly/03
monthly/6monthly/ yearly and next year. Prepare & submitting requirements for spare parts
and proposal to do the routine maintenance as maintenance schedule on time and unplanned
maintenance.
- Ensure all O&M procedures relevant to machinery equipment, system are followed,
reviewed, updated and writing including TWIs, JHAs and procedures which is assigned by
MS. Ensure proper and updated records are compiled and followed up. Update in AMOS
system accordingly.
- Ensure area which is controlled by maintenance team has to monitor and make plan for
corrosion control to prevent corrosion attack.
- Assist MS/SMT to Inventory stock and prepare/raise MR for all spare parts are ready onboard for all routine maintenance/ unplanned tasks prior to start tasks.
- Review all log sheet of all system on daily and inform MS/SMT to take action once found
abnormalities.
- Assist SMT to update the major maintenance plan on monthly.
- Supervise and support team during store, transfer, top up, change lube oil, hydraulic oil,
chemical…with correct way, label and type.
- Assist MS/SMT to Supervise & ensure all system are changed over following the changeover
plan.
- Coordinate closely with all related departments to ensure all system is operation and
maintenance effective.
- Assist and ensure all personnel of the maintenance department is assigned tasks correctly and
getting the high effective.
- Keep and ensure portable tools are in good condition before using for work and have to report
with any damage, loss of tool.

- Support MS to make training plan and provide training for junior maintenance crews, new
maintenance crews.
- Supervise and support contractors to work safely in compliance with the FMS.
- Cooperate with MS/SMT to issue PTW as well as close out PTW when complete jobs
- Carry out close WO in Amos as require from SMT

- Take part in all drills and exercises and in the event of any actual emergency fulfil the duties
assigned as per the emergency response plan.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
- University/College graduated in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge and experience of operation and maintenance of marine machineries and
equipment or in the offshore oil and gas industry
- Experience with Safety management system.
- Experience of using the PTW system
- Experience with CMMS (AMOS or equivalent).
- Skilled in using of mechanical machinenery tools
- Good knowledge in English with good personal and inter-personal skill.
- Be properly trained and certified in the following:
a. Permit to work and Job safety analysis
b. Basic Safety Training
c. Safety Awareness
d. Safety Induction
e. Hazardous Area Training
f. BOSIET/ FOSET
g. Chemical safety Training
h. Occupational safety and health Training

- Graduated from Maritime University on Machinery engineering.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of process equipment on offshore facilities.
- Engine Officer, certified under the International Convention of Standards of Training,
Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers as Third Engineer.
